He is also a renowned bandleader who has appeared on Saturday Night Live, David Letterman and The Tonight Show (19 times since 1986). As we are well into our fourth month, I'm so pleased to see the progress that musicshaft.com has made. Our website users love being able to find local live music with such ease. 'Relay for Life' Fundraiser September 12th-Simi Valley

Come say hello to yours truly as I emcee a 'Relay for Life' cancer benefit on Saturday, Sept 12th from Noon-7pm at PC's Bar & Grill located at 4250 Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley- between Tapo & Tapo Canyon. There will be a BBQ featuring Leonard cooking (if you don't know Leonard, you'll be glad you came)- the best BBQ chicken and Tri-tip around. There are also two bands playing: Double Shot & Wild Bil'z Bloozhoundz. This is a great place to stop by before or after Simi Valley days or both! One of Simi Valley's best in the live music scene

Last night I had an incredible dinner at SPARK Woodfire Grill located at the Simi Valley Town Center Mall. In case your not recognizing the name, it's the old Redfish location. There is nothing old about the new name or the menu. The prices are fantastic (a great value for the money), the food exquisite and best of all (listen up musicshaft.com lovers) there is FREE music in the bar on Wednesday thru Saturday nights. The atmosphere is casual but also could be considered fancy- honestly, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't thoroughly enjoy this place! Yum!

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

Yesterday, America's biggest Pop Icon died. A true loss for those who hailed Michael Jackson as one of the greatest performers of all time. He was the beginning of music videos and his lyrics and actions made everyone think a little different. My prayers go out to his children and family at this time. May he rest in peace.

Summer is finally here

Yesterday was 'summer solstice' - incase you don't know what that actually means, here are some facts:
Sol + stice derives from a combination of Latin words meaning "sun" + "to stand still." As the days lengthen, the sun rises higher and higher until it seems to stand still in the sky.
As a major celestial event, the Summer Solstice results in the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The Northern Hemisphere celebrates in June, but the people on the Southern half of the earth have their longest summer day in December.
It's a little sad to think about aleady having had the longest day of the year while most of us feel that summer has just started, so make the most of your time by enjoying your friends and family and the summertime weather- and by all means: Get out there and see local live music!

Sing Sami sing!

I had the honor of singing 'Mustang Sally' last night with the guys from the Bulldogz band in Simi Valley. As a closet song writer I would normally prefer for sing my own songs, but I have to admit there is something about that song that I just love to sing. It was a nice release from the long week I've had adding about 400 more venues to the musicshaft.com website. Now to add the calendars for all those.....

If you haven't paid attention lately, there have been some upgrades to the musicshaft.com website. Users can now send us information about their favorite band or venue by filling out an easy to use form by clicking on 'Let us know about them so they can become our favorites too' link. Users are also able to submit show dates/times by clicking on 'tell us about it' link; in order to use this both the band and venue must already be in our database, there is a selection box for both bands and venues. If you don't see what your looking for, go back a step and submit the information prior to submitting the show date/time. - of course, all information is subject to approval prior to website publishing.

SEO or bust

I'm happy to report that musicshaft.com is now coming up on most search engines. It's pointless to have a website that no one can find, so I'm pleased to see the progression.

Where would I be without my great webmaster?

Where would I be without my great webmaster is a good question- but more importantly, where would musicshaft.com be? No where to be exact! My hat goes off to Eric at Pacific Coast Expert Networking for his diligent attention to the musicshaft.com project. We've come so far so quickly- all thanks to his knowledge, perserverance and understanding of the mind of a woman CEO. I remember during the first few meetings, I was told to really think about what I wanted. At the time, I thought I knew- yet the more I learn, the more I realize I have so much more to learn. I'm excited about the new advances in musicshaft.com that happened over the weekend. Users can now add their favorite band or venue as well as let us know about a show we may not yet have posted. Funday Friday

What is it about Friday? There is always that certain feeling- that feeling seems to be across the board -whether your working or not, heck even when I work on the weekends I still like Fridays. Perhaps it's the songs that have been pumped into our souls that sing of the glory of the weekend. Hip hip Hooray! musicshaft.com is finally up and running. With more to come- currently users can use there zip code to choose how far they want to travel to see live music. For users who only want specific genres, choose which one from our genre list. Remember that musicians can have more than one genre so be open to new music when you go to see it!
If you don't see your favorite band or location to see live music, let us know and we'll get it added!

11 Days to Go

It's almost here. The public roll-out date of musicshaft.com (June 1st) - We'll be starting with the Ventura and LA county areas and branching out and out and out. The goal is to be nation wide eventually. The main goal of musicshaft.com is to include all musicians in a simple, easy-to-use zip code driven search engine that has venue links as well.
I'm having so much fun meeting and talking with people- there is so much support for what we are doing- I love the good vibes from so many cool people.
Life is funny- for the first time in my working career I'm completely utterly happy, a bit overwhelmed and overburdened- but hey, I'm happy! So far musicshaft.com is an act of love and faith to music- so it seems a bit shocking when people keep asking me how are we going to make money.
For those of you who ask the question: The plan is to create a must-go-to reliable site that continues to be user friendly and simple and fast no matter how big we get and how many 'hits' we get. Bands & Venues that want to include their website link in the calendar section can pay $10 a month or $100 for the year. Calendar postings will always be free and advertising will be kept to a minimum.
Simple is good!

Seriously, I should've posted more than 30 days ago, but what can I say, I've been busy. I'm happy to report that musicshaft.com is well on it's way to being a user-friendly fully functional website. The calendar section is up and the zip code search engine is one it's way shortly. I'm enjoying getting to meet musicians and tell them about musicshaft. Waiting for public roll-out until the website is worthly of a person's time. There is so much info out there to collect- I gotta go....
